Budgie Sprained Leg

In this article we are going to talk about a budgie sprained leg

It’s possible for a budgie to sprain their leg

Or even break (of course we don’t want happening and pray it doesn’t)

But it can be common

How?

It’s because budgies have tiny hollow bones

And this can be prone to sprains and even breakage

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not weak as their legs are adapted and refined to meet their primary life function

They use their legs as much as we use our legs

Of course, their wings are their powerhouse but their legs are also as important

If your budgie has sprained their leg, you should definitely take your budgie to the vet

This is the best thing to do

Let’s get into more detail in this article

Signs Of a Sprained Leg

You’d notice straight away if something is wrong with your budgies leg

Some of the signs to look out for is

  • Obvious breakage or bend in the leg (This is if the leg is broken)
  • Standing on one leg
  • Trying to shift balance
  • Unsteadiness
  • Stress

If you notice any of these signs then you should definitely take your bird to the vets

They can give you expert advice and provide the necessary treatment

It would not be a good idea if you were to take matters in your own hands and try to help your budgie

You don’t know what is causing your budgie pain in their leg

It could be a sprain or a fracture

The best thing to do is try to take your bird to the vet as soon as possible

Don’t attempt to touch the leg or try to fix it yourself

It could be possible you cause more harm to your budgie

I can’t answer that

But the best thing to do is again go straight to the vets

You can’t let your budgie be in pain and hope it gets better on it’s own

Your budgie may need treatment done on the leg or some medication

The best thing is to go to the vets and let the veterinarian asses your birds leg

They would give the best advice as they are trained and experts of course
