Why Does My Budgie Do Flips?

Budgies are very cute birds

And they do the craziest things

One thing budgie parents see their cute little birds do is flip!

Question that comes to mind is – Why does a budgie do a flip?

The answer to this is because they’re crazy!

Kidding

It’s a sign that your budgie is really happy c

Some budgies will act all crazy and do some crazy things in their cage because they want to come out so this could be an indication your birdie wants to come out of the cage and fly about

Nothing to worry about at all

You have a fun and confident bird which is great!

In this article we’re going to go into much detail about this I guess awesome behavior well crazy too

Why Does My Budgie Flip On It’s Back?

They do this because they’re happy!

Or it’s just your budgies personality to do crazy things I guess

There is nothing to worry about at all

They’re just having fun in their cage

Another thing it could mean is, your budgie may want to come out of their cage and explore

If your bird has never been out of the cage then this could be the perfect to time to allow them

Do make sure it’s gradually and take lots of precaution

I actually talk about this in my article – Budgie out of cage for the first time

Your budgie is not crazy so don’t think this

It’s actually a good thing because it shows your budgie is active and having some fun

That means they are healthy and happy!

You see, budgies are very playful little creatures and they do some of the craziest stunts

Both in the cage and out of the cage too

One thing to note is make sure there is plenty of space in the cage because you don’t want your little birdie to get hurt when they’re doing flips

You could add more perches and swings – Your budgie will love that

Your Budgie Is Scared Of You

If you are stretching your arm into the cage to try and get your budgie to sit on your finger and your budgie reacts by doing flips, this could be a sign your budgie is scared

This happens when a budgie is new

So take your time and let your bird feel more comfortable with their new surroundings then gradually see if your budgie sits on your finger

Don’t force anything as this could delay things

Another pretty cool thing budgies do is dance!

What does it mean when your budgie dances?

Let’s find out

What Does It Mean When a Budgie Dances?

You’ve probably seen your little cute budgie dance

And by that I mean, bobbing their head up and down

It actually looks cool and can put a smile on anyone’s face

But what does it mean when they bob their head up and down?

Well, if you have a male parakeet and he’s doing this funny dance it means they are attracting any female parakeets that’s nearby

You could call it a mating dance

So if you have a female budgie nearby or in another cage, your male budgie is pretty much trying to get her attention

Similar to what I do! (Kidding! Lol!)

Anyways, unless you want baby budgies, it’s best to keep them separate for the time being

Another possible reason for head bobbing is territorial aggression

They want to show and warn other budgies around that this area belongs to them!

Boredom could be another reason too

You should try to keep your budgies entertained as much as possible

Have a large bird cage so you can add a variety of toys to keep them busy

Another budgie is always a good idea too because they are very sociable birds

As mentioned earlier, allowing your budgie out of cage time gives your bird some freedom to fly about

Wrapping Up

Budgies doing flips can be pretty cool to look at

Good thing is, there’s nothing to worry about as this is normal

You may just have a very cool budgie with an awesome personality

Maybe allowing your budgie out of the cage would be a good idea
